Robert Woods says Rams WRs are among the best, ‘if not the best’ in NFL

The Rams gave their group of wide receivers a huge vote of confidence this offseason by trading Brandin Cooks to the Texans. They’re putting a lot of faith in Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp to continue dominating as 1A and 1B at wide receiver, and showed a lot of faith in Josh Reynolds to step up as the No. 3.

Woods doesn’t lack any confidence in himself and Kupp, either.

On a conference call with media members last week, Woods put the Rams’ wide receiver group among the best in the NFL, if not the very best.

“I think we’re not like the flashiest group of receivers, but we’re just up there with production, up there with the best if not the best, as a group and as a unit,” he said. “But you see, we end up, obviously, losing Todd Gurley in the backfield, so we’ve been working on this offseason, being able to be a big impact in the passing game. Having Josh Reynolds step up for Brandin Cooks, and really just be explosive. A lot of guys making big plays and we’ve got to keep the explosive big pass plays over 15 yards, is our goal.”

Jared Goff doesn’t lack targets on the outside, and good ones at that. Kupp and Woods will be his favorite playmakers, but don’t forget about Reynolds and even rookie Van Jefferson. They’re all good blockers, too, which allows the Rams to run the ball often out of 11 personnel like they have for the last three years.

Woods isn’t wrong for putting the Rams’ wideouts at the top of the class, even after losing Cooks.
