Robert Woods finally recognized, ranked No. 76 on Top 100 Players list

The career trajectory for Robert Woods has been a fairly slow one. He got off to a rough start with the Bills, struggling to ever become more than a No. 2 option in Buffalo. Once he signed with the Rams, however, his value increased.

He’s progressed in each of the last two years he’s been in Los Angeles, leading to a career year in 2018 with 86 catches for 1,219 yards and six touchdowns. Those numbers are almost identical to the ones he posted in his first and third years in Buffalo combined (87 catches, 1,093 yards and six touchdowns).

He’s finally gained some national recognition as one of the best receivers in football, landing on NFL Network’s Top 100 Players list for the first time ever. He came in at No. 76, becoming the third Ram to be ranked this year.

Woods has been Mr. Reliable for the Rams over the last two years. Yes, he missed four games with a shoulder injury in 2017, but he’s been outstanding otherwise. He has a strong catch rate of 66 percent the last two years, which is significantly higher than what he posted in Buffalo (58.8 percent).

He always puts the team first, too. When Cooper Kupp went down with a torn ACL last season, Woods was happy to play in the slot more, helping replace the second-year receiver.

It’s great to see him finally earning some recognition after a breakout year in 2018.
