Robert Snodgrass available to face Spurs as West Ham continue to ponder ban appeal

West Ham midfielder Robert Snodgrass is available for selection for West Ham on Saturday lunchtime when they take on Spurs at their new stadium.

The Scottish midfielder has a one-match ban hanging over his head after being found guilty of misconduct towards a UK anti-doping official at West Ham's training ground back in February, where he was accused of using "abusive and/or insulting" language towards a tester.

Snodgrass had not been selected to give a sample on that day, nor did he refuse to give one.

The one-game ban is not currently active while the club and player decide their next steps, with manager Manuel Pellegrini consistently backing his player in the argument. The matter is still ongoing and as a result, Snodgrass is free to play.

The Scotsman was also fined £30,000 by the FA after being found guilty by an independent panel.

Football.London understands that the club and Snodgrass are still pondering their next move and as a result, he is available for the Hammers this weekend for their London derby against their bitter rivals from the north of the capital.

Snodgrass said earlier in the week when asked about the upcoming match against Mauricio Pochettino's men that if his Hammers teammates can't get themselves up for the game then they need to ask themselves a few questions.

"It’s doesn't motivate me any differently [that they’re in the Champions League semi-finals], he said.

"It’s Spurs and if you’re not motivated for that, there’s no point in turning up.

“There is so much at stake, with the rivalry between the two clubs, so I think that’s the game you obviously want to win and get the bragging rights, finish the season on a high and get the three points.”

The 31-year-old has made 37 appearances for West Ham this season, scoring four goals and bagging nine assists.
