Robert Pattinson 'tests positive for Covid-19' as The Batman forced to halt filming

Robert Pattinson has tested positive for Covid-19, say reports.

Filming for his new role on The Batman, in which he plays the titular superhero, has had to be halted only days after it resumed.

Filming had been put on hold amid coronavirus, but recently resumed just outside of London.

Now, the lead star has caught the bug, bringing production to a grinding halt again, Vanity Fair reports.

While Warner Bros would not comment on any individual's health when approached by the publication, the company shared a statement which read: "A member of The Batman production has tested positive for Covid-19, and is isolating in accordance with established protocols.

"Filming is temporarily paused."

Mirror Online has reached out to Robert's rep for comment.

Rocketing to household name-status as the brooding vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight film series, actor Robert boasts an esteemed career.

His role as Bruce Wayne and his nightcrawling, crime-fighting alter ego marks a return to bigger, Blockbuster style films after a string of artier, smaller scale flicks.

The Batman also stars Andy Serkis as Bruce's butler Alfred, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farell as notorious gangster The Penguin, and Paul Dano as the question mark-obsessed Riddler.

Jeffrey Wright also co-stars as Commissioner Gordon, while John Turturro takes on the role of a crime boss.

The film is directed by Matt Reeves, renowned for his work on the Planet of the Apes franchise.

"It’s a criminological experiment," he enthused of his film, "He’s trying to figure out what he can do to finally change this place.

"You see that he’s charting what he’s doing, and he’s seeing he isn’t having any of the effect that he wants to have yet."

He added: "The murders start to happen, and the murders start to describe a history of Gotham.

"It only reinforces what he knows about Gotham, but opens up a whole world of corruption that went much further."

A trailer sent fans wild with anticipation for its 2021 release date.
