Robert Pattinson makes huge Tenet admission in new interview: 'It's the one thing I'm approved to say'

Robert Pattinson has revealed “the one thing [he’s] approved to say” about Christopher Nolan’s forthcoming sci-fi film Tenet.

In an interview with GQ, the actor spoke about the ”insane” project, and claimed that he was unable to remember or explain its plot.

Asked to detail the story of Tenet, Pattinson said: “Even if I had seen it, I genuinely don’t know if I’d be able to… I was just thinking, I just called up my assistant 20 minutes ago: ‘What the f*** do I say? I have no idea.”

But the Good Time star was able to confirm one key detail about his character: “He’s not a time traveller. There’s actually no time travelling [in the film]. That’s, like, the one thing I’m approved to say.”

After the first trailer for the film dropped, many people had speculated that the film would involve some sort of time travel narrative.

Pattinson, who stars in the film alongside John David Washington, Michael Caine and Elizabeth Debicki, explained that the film had utilised a crew of around 500 people, 250 of whom would fly together to different countries for filming.

“In each country there’s, like, an enormous set-piece scene,” he said, ”which is like the climax of a normal movie. In every single country.”

Christopher Nolan responded to Pattinson’s remarks in GQ, saying that the actor was “slightly f***ing with you”.

“But he’s also being disarmingly honest,” continued the filmmaker. ”It’s sort of both things at once. When you see the film, you’ll understand. Rob’s read on the script was extremely acute. But he also understood the ambiguities of the film and the possibilities that spin off in the mind around the story.”

Tenet is currently scheduled to be released in cinemas on 17 July 2020.
