Robert MacIntyre silences Ryder Cup hecklers after Bethpage Black heroics

Ryder Cup hero Robert MacIntyre has hit back at hecklers after Team Europe's triumph at Bethpage Black.

The Oban golfer, 29, was part of the triumphant side to hold on to claim a 15-13 victory on US soil last week.

During the event, MacIntyre was subject to heckles from the US crowd, including a shout during his backswing at the tee of the 17th hole.

A thoughtless spectator shouted, "you bloody w****r" with MacIntyre forced to pull away from his shot.

MacIntyre had also faced shouts to "do some cardio" and asked whether he had "ever been for a run" before his first tee shot of the Ryder Cup.

Addressing the abuse from the crowd, MacIntyre said: “You’ve got to expect it out here. It’s what happens when the bar opens at 9.30am and we get round to there.

“I should have done better and handled it better and hit a better shot.

“It was literally in my golf swing, so I stopped because it was loud. The minute there was a bit of doubt it took my whole mind away from the shot.

“But, look, it’s part of the game and this year’s Ryder Cup, I suppose.”

Following Europe's triumph, though, MacIntyre has aimed a social media swipe at hecklers as he silenced haters online.

Posting highlights of an array of putting from his time at the Ryder Cup, MacIntyre revealed the shouts he faced from rival supporters.

MacIntyre's video hit back at insults including: "Eat another burger Bobby?", "Milk bottle", "Bobby Mac & Cheese" and "When you starting ozempic?".

The Scottish golfer captioned the post: "Keep them coming 😘 @rydercupeurope 💙💛🏆🏆".

The Instagram post has already racked up more than 13,000 likes.

MacIntyre lost hit first matchup at the Ryder Cup as he and Viktor Hovland lost to Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele in the Friday morning foursomes.

He won his second foursome match as he and Hovland finished one up on Russell Henley and Scottie Scheffler. McIntyre halved with Sam Burns in his final match against Sam Burns.
