Robert Lewandowski snubs Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Harry Kane as he picks top five strikers

Robert Lewandowski has picked his top five favourite strikers in world football, but had no room for Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Tottenham's Harry Kane.

The north London pair have established themselves as two of the premier forwards in the Premier League, having both won the Golden Boot.

But Lewandowski had no room for either on his list, instead naming Manchester City star Sergio Aguero.

Aguero was chosen alongside Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid's Karim Benzema, Barcelona's Luis Suarez and RB Leipzig's Timo Werner.

"A difficult question. If we talk about [the number] nine, I would say: Karim Benzema, Timo Werner, Luis Suarez, Sergio Aguero and Kylian Mbappe," Lewandowski told Goal.com, when asked to pick his five favourite strikers.

Lewandowski also went on to praise Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian has scored 12 goals in 11 games since moving to Germany in January from Red Bull Salzburg, which has impressed Lewandowski.

"He has huge potential, but still has time. I don't want to put any pressure on him with my statements," the Poland striker added.

"If he works hard, he can become a better player and eventually reach the top level.

"Therefore it might be good for him if he would stay in the Bundesliga longer before taking the next step."

Lewandowski and Haaland are back in action this weekend, with football in Germany resuming behind closed doors for the first time since the league was suspended amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

Bayern Munich travel to Union Berlin on Sunday aiming to extend the four-point lead they held at the top of the table, whilst Dortmund host Schalke in a local derby.
