Robert Lewandowski in training ground fight with Bayern Munich teammate Kingsley Coman

Robert Lewandowski and Kingley Coman came to blows at Bayern Munich’s training ground on Thursday morning.

The attacking duo initially argued after an incident on the field, with Lewandowski furious with the Frenchman.

It's understood the issue arose after Lewandowski let rip at Coman during a training exercise, criticising the France international for not taking the session seriously.

That confrontation soon became physical however, with Coman striking the Polish forward, who responded by landing a strike of his own on the 22-year-old.

The pair were initially broken apart by both Jerome Boating and Niklas Sule.

However, tensions continued to run high and moments after being split apart, the duo had to be separated again, with Bild reporting that a number of other teammates had to subsequently intervene.

Bayern boss Niko Kovac didn't send the pair back to the dressing room however, instead allowing them to continue training at Sabener Strasse.

It's not the first time Lewandowski has been involved in a training ground argument with teammates over the last 18 months.

Last February he and Mats Hummels were involved in a bust-up, despite being on the same side in an exercise, with the German defender heavily critical of the No.9's attitude.

It led to club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge pledging that the club "won't tolerate any nonsense" in future.

This latest incident occurred amid suggestions Lewandowski is set to extend his contract in Bavaria.

The 30-year-old's deal currently runs until 2021, but an extension until 2023 is in the offing.

It also comes just days after Bayern's 5-0 thumping of Borussia Dortmund to take charge of the Bundesliga title race with six games to go.

On Sunday Bayern head to Dusseldorf to face Fortuna, against whom they dropped points at the Allianz Arena back in November.

Bayern are yet to comment on the issue.
