FOXBOROUGH, Mass. _ Never say never.
An hour before Rob Gronkowski was set to make his analyst debut on FOX Sports, Patriots owner Robert Kraft said the tight end might still return to the NFL. Speaking with the NFL Network, Kraft said there's still hope that Gronk might come out of his retirement due to the fact that he never filed his retirement paperwork.
"We all love Gronk and I think the bottom line is, he hasn't put his retirement papers in," Kraft. "We can pray and hope. ... I think that's a good academic argument that there is hope with Gronk."
That was an interesting tidbit from Kraft. On March 26, the Patriots placed Gronk on the NFL's "reserve/retired" list after the tight end announced his retirement. It seems, however, that Gronkowski left the door open for a return.
The Patriots would get a big boost if Gronkowski returned. The team is currently playing with two tight ends _ Matt LaCosse and Ryan Izzo _ after releasing veteran Ben Watson. Since retiring, Gronkowski has worked as a spokesperson for a CBD oil company and now as an analyst for FOX Sports. He was set to make his debut Thursday night. We'll see how long that lasts.
