Robert Kirkman has ranked all four seasons of Invincible, and you might be surprised by his #1

Invincible.

Now that Invincible season 4 has come to an end, Invincible creator Robert Kirkman has ranked every season of the Prime Video show from best to worst.

Whilst on The Escape Pod, creator of the Invincible comics and the animated show, Kirkman revealed that his favorite season so far is Invincible season 4. Check out the ranking below.

  • 1. Season 4
  • 2. Season 3
  • 3. Season 1
  • 4. Season 2

"I would go 4, 3, 1, 2," said Kirkman. "I will say that season 2 was a deliberately quiet season. We try to make sure that there's not like a formula to the seasons. That's why the finale of season 4 is quiet, whereas the finales to one and three were like these big, explosive things. And so I see, you know, season 2 seems to be a season that is not getting a lot of love."

However, Kirkman says that season 4 is the "strongest season" to him as it's the one he has seen most recently. "It's the one I'm like the most entrenched in and well-versed in, and I've watched all the cuts most recently, and so I feel like it's the strongest."

Kirkman's ranking differs from what audiences think of each season. According to audience ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, season 1 is the most popular with a 94% score, followed by season 3, which has a 93% score. In third place is season 2 with a 90% score, and in last place is season 4 with a 87% score. Invincible season 3 seems to be well-loved over on IMDb, as episode 8 titled 'I Thought You'd Never Shut Up' is the highest rated instalment of the whole series with an impressive 9.9/10 rating.

The difference between how Robert Kirkman views season 4 and how the audience rated it could come down to the recent season's divisive Hell episode. Kirkman was extremely excited to include the special installment, but audiences didn't quite gravitate towards it. Officially titled 'Hurum', season 4 episode 4, known as the Hell episode, scored just 6.6/10 on IMDb, making it the lowest-rated episode of Invincible.

Invincible seasons 1-4 are available to watch on Prime Video. Invincible season 5 has been confirmed and is set to air sometime in 2027. For more, check out our picks for the best anime and best Prime Video shows to watch in 2026.
