Just a few weeks after Channel 10 confirmed he wouldn’t be returning as host of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! in 2027 due to the show’s shock cancellation, Robert Irwin has landed a brand new gig on a rival TV network.
The 22-year-old conservationist-slash-international heartthrob has been announced as the host of this year’s TV WEEK Logie Awards, airing exclusively on Channel 7 later this year.
“Hosting the TV WEEK Logie Awards is one of the most exciting things I’ve been asked to do,” he said in a statement on Wednesday morning.
“Throughout my life, my goal has been to spread an important message not only through our work at Australia Zoo, but also on the screen. I grew up watching the Logies with my family, so this is certainly an honour.”
He continued: “Australian television has given so much to so many people. To be part of the biggest night in Aussie TV is something I don’t take lightly. I cannot wait!”
Robert Irwin’s history with the Logie Awards
Robert Irwin attended his first Logies in 2004 when his late father, Steve Irwin, was inducted into the Logie Awards Hall of Fame, and he received a nomination for Most Popular New Male Talent in 2013 for his role on the Channel 10 show Steve Irwin’s Wildlife Warriors.
He was nominated for Most Popular Presenter and the coveted Gold Logie for the very first time in 2024 following his inaugural season of I’m A Celebrity, although he’s yet to receive a trophy himself.
Robert’s new gig comes shortly after his star power shot to new heights around the world when he won last year’s season of Dancing With The Stars in the US. He’s since been announced as host of the show’s spin-off series Dancing With The Stars: The Next Pro, which will premiere in July 2026.
When are the 2026 Logie Awards?
The 66th TV WEEK Logie Awards will air live on Channel 7 and 7plus on Sunday, August 16, at The Star Sydney.
Robert will step in to replace comedian Sam Pang, who hosted the ceremony for three years in a row before politely declining to return for a fourth year.
“I’ve had three great years, and it was wonderful, but I’m just not going to do it this year,” Pang told The Sydney Morning Herald last month. “It was very amicable. I’m well aware I may never do it again, and whoever does it, I’m sure will do a great job, but I just thought three was a nice number.”
Robert is officially making history as the youngest host of the award ceremony, and chances are high that his famous family will make an appearance on the night. He also made history as the youngest person to be nominated for the Gold Logie at the age of 22.
The nominations for this year’s award ceremony are yet to be announced, but we’ll keep you posted when they do!
