Robert De Niro has lashed out at US president Donald Trump once again, this time in an appearance on The Graham Norton Show.
The actor was speaking about his role in Martin Scorsese’s forthcoming film The Irishman, in which he plays a former hitman reminiscing about his past.
Asked about the appeal of mafia characters today, De Niro quickly began to criticise Trump, commenting: “Today, we kind of have a weird twisted president who thinks he’s a gangster, who's not even a good gangster.
“This is a guy, even gangsters have honour among thieves, you shake a hand and you have your word, that’s all you have is your word. They have your word and that’s it, this guy is not the case.”
“I didn’t even bring him up, ladies and gentlemen,” Norton joked.
De Niro was joined by Paul Rudd, Sienna Miller, and Bruce Springsteen on the show, which also included a performance by James Blunt.
The actor has become known for his frequent outbursts regarding Trump, and has regularly spoken of his hopes that the US president will be impeached.
