Robert De Niro is in talks to reunite with David O Russell and Jennifer Lawrence on the biopic Joy, about the creator of the Miracle Mop, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

De Niro was Oscar-nominated for his role as Bradley Cooper’s father in Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook, which starred Lawrence as a young widow. The Kentucky-born actor is set to play Joy Mangano, the mother of three who became one of the most successful American entrepreneurs, in the new film. De Niro is in line to portray Mangano’s father, but will wait to see if Lawrence officially confirms her role before signing on the dotted line.

Joy, which is being pitched for a tilt at the 2016 Oscars, expects to shoot in February. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Russell is currently rewriting a screenplay by Annie (Bridesmaids) Mumolo.

Mangano sold her company Ingenious Designs to the Home Shopping Network in a multimillion-dollar deal in 1999, but stayed on as company president. She is currently one of the channel’s most successful presenters and also invented Huggable Hangers, Performance Platforms and Shades Readers.
