The body of missing 72-year-old Robert Brown has been found, police have confirmed.
He was reported missing last week after visiting family in Fife.
Police issued a public appeal for information – saying that he was last seen at Kirkcaldy railway station around 10.15am on Thursday (January 30).
He boarded a Cross Country train bound for Newcastle but never arrived. A CCTV image of Mr Brown was released by police in a bid to help trace him.
Officers believed he was intending to return home to North Shields, Northumbria, but may have departed the train at Berwick-upon-Tweed.
And police today (Monday, 3 February) confirmed that his body has now been found. The discovery was made in Tweedmouth, Berwick Upon Tweed, on Sunday.
A spokesperson added: "The body of a man found in Tweedmouth on Sunday, 2 February has been identified as Robert Brown, from North Shields, who was reported missing after getting on a train in Kirkcaldy, Fife, on Thursday, 30 January.
"His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them."
