Roberson’s status for season opener still uncertain

Andre Roberson’s status for the Thunder’s season opener is still uncertain.

Thunder head coach, Billy Donovan, told members of the media Monday that Roberson is “still questionable” and that he will have a better idea of Roberson’s availability “closer to the game-day shootaround”.

As reported by Joe Mussatto of The Oklahoman, Roberson did return to “contact portions of practice” Sunday and participated in Oklahoma City’s scrimmage Monday afternoon, something that Donovan was happy to see.

“He didn’t do all of it, but he did a lot of it. It was good to have him back out there.”

Roberson was held out of the entire preseason as he continues to work back from the ruptured left patellar tendon that he suffered in January 2018.

The medical staff has been exceedingly careful in their treatment of Roberson as he eases back into playing shape.

It’s probably not a bad idea, considering that Roberson has missed the better part of two seasons after suffering a setback prior to 2018-19 that cost him another year.

The Thunder have one final practice Tuesday before heading on the road to Salt Lake City. Oklahoma City opens the regular season Wednesday against the Utah Jazz.
