Robby McCrorie earns first Scotland call-up as Steve Clarke rewards loan Rangers keeper

Robby McCrorie will be handed his first Scotland call-up by Steve Clarke on Tuesday as the national boss looks to the future of Scottish goalkeeping.

The 22-year-old Rangers keeper has made four starts on loan at Livingston so far this season and will take his place in the squad ahead of the Nations League double header against Israel and Czech Republic.

McCrorie has yet to make a top team appearance for Rangers but spent the second part of last season on loan at Livi, making eight Premiership appearances, after spells with Queen of the South, Morton and Berwick Rangers.

David Marshall, who last week clinched a move to Derby from Wigan, and Rangers’ Jon McLaughlin are expected to be the two senior keepers in the squad as Clarke steps up preparations for the crucial Euro 2020 play-off semi final against Israel on October 8.

McCrorie has seven Under 21 caps to his name but is widely regarded as a Scotland goalkeeper of the future.

Scotland face Israel at an empty Hampden on Friday, September 4, before travelling to face the Czechs in Olomouc three days later.

Clarke will announce his squad at 1pm on Tuesday.
