Robby Anderson, Jets free agent, says playing with Tom Brady 'would be a dream come true'

Robby Anderson has visions of Tom Brady dancing in his head.

The Jets free-agent wide receiver admitted Wednesday morning that he literally just dreamed that he was on the same team as the greatest quarterback in NFL history. As Tom Brady mulls his future, Anderson wondered aloud about the prospects of playing with the six-time Super Bowl champion.

"I didn't see like the actual colors of the jersey, but we were literally on the same practice field at practice together," Anderson said on ESPN.

"That would be a dream come true."

The Jets would like to re-sign the 26-year-old Anderson, who is exploring his options during his first offseason as a free agent.

Anderson has taken a savvy approach during this critical time before free agency officially begins next week. One day after Anderson praised Sam Darnold and Jamal Adams and wanted to take care of "unfinished business" with the Jets, he revealed his desire to play with the NFL's GOAT.

"This really ain't a lie (or) stunt on everything," Anderson tweeted Wednesday afternoon about his dream sequence with Brady. "I had a dream we was at practice maybe it was (just) the pro bowl."

"It's been interesting," Anderson said of the free agency experience. "It's been exciting ... I can't predict anything, but I have been getting a lot of interest from teams. Teams have been expressing to my agent that it's pretty much like ... I'm the ideal guy of who they do want."

Anderson, who had 52 catches for 779 yards and five touchdowns last season, has developed a good chemistry with Sam Darnold in the past two seasons. Anderson provides a speed dimension that is otherwise lacking for Gang Green.

Anderson is one of the better options in a relatively weak free-agent receiver class. He has myriad factors that he'll weigh before making a decision.

"Definitely, obviously the quarterback," Anderson said. "The organization. How they view me. Obviously, the money. I'm not going to obviously settle for less than what I know I'm worth, what I know I can become and what I've done ... . The style of offense. I'm looking at it from a perspective outside of football ... where I would be living."

"Just somewhere generally where I know I'm going to be able to flourish and be the player I can truly be."

Anderson is expected to get a deal that averages $12-$15 million per year. He would walk away a winner if he pocketed $24-$30 million in the first two years of his new deal.

"If it works out with the Jets and my agent (and) we come to a reasonable _ obviously a great _ deal," Anderson said, "then it works out."

If not, then he will be an asset elsewhere. Maybe he'll join forces with Brady, whose days with the Patriots remain in doubt. Either way, Anderson figures to cash in.
