Robbie Williams and wife Ayda Field QUIT The X Factor after just one series

Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field have quit The X Factor after just one series.

The pair joined the panel as judges last year, but they've now confirmed they will not be returning.

In a post on Instagram, Robbie wrote: "A quick update from Team Williams… it's been a very busy year so far and Vegas has been incredible - we cannot wait for June and July to do it all again...

'We've got some very big announcements coming soon - but we can't reveal all yet.

"Sadly as it's impossible to do everything, we're gutted to tell you we won't be able to return to The X Factor this year.

"We will, however, be working on projects with Simon going forward - and as huge fans of the show, we will still be tuning into The X Factor, voting and winding Simon up!"

Robbie explained that filming would clash with his pop career plans, which includes shows at London's Hyde Park next summer.

He's also been busy working on music and lyrics for the stage show version of David Walliams' book The Boy In The Dress.

The future of The X Factor panel remains in doubt amid fears fellow judge Louis Tomlinson also won't be returning for the 2019 series.

Simon is revamping the show this year, turning it into an all-star version with celebrities taking the place of contestants.

There will also reportedly be another version featuring old contestants from previous shows.

The major major overhaul of the show was revealed amid falling ratings - with the 2018 series suffering the lowest in 14 years.
