Robbie Savage slams Martin Dubravka after Newcastle United's draw against Aston Villa

Robbie Savage has slammed Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka following the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa in the Premier League on Wednesday.

The Magpie s took the lead in the second half through Dwight Gayle but Ahmed Elmohamady levelled the scores late on with a header from a corner at the near post.

Elmohamady's effort certainly wasn't the strongest of headers but Dubravka could not keep it out, with Newcastle missing the chance to make it back-to-back wins since the Premier League restart.

That earned criticism from Savage after the match, who was the pundit for the evening and also the co-commentator during the match.

"Just before that, Isaac Hayden went down. Then, if you look at it, he just couldn’t get close to Ahmed Elmohamady," he said to BT Sport in his post-match analysis.

"It’s a decent ball over the frontman Miguel Almiron, but just look at Hayden, he went down injured just before and went off just after the goal was conceded.

"I think it’s a good run from Elmohamady. You don’t expect them to score from there, Shelvey may have just taken Dubravka’s eyesight, but the goalkeeper’s got to save it. But listen, Elmohamady and Aston Villa will take that."
