Robbie Neilson shrugs off Stephen Robinson referee claims as Hearts boss insists 'key decisions were right'

Robbie Neilson reckons St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson can have no complaints over the big decisions during Hearts ' win in Paisley.

Goals from Ellis Simms and Cammy Devlin took the points back to Gorgie and brought to an end a four-game winless run.

St Mirren were reduced to 10 men early on when Connor Ronan was given his marching orders by referee Greg Aitken.

Saints then had what looked like a viable penalty claim turned down when Alex Grieve went down in the box.

And to make matters worse, rival boss Stephen Robinson was convinced that keeper Jak Alnwick was fouled before Devlin hit Hearts’ second goal.

However, Neilson disputed Robinson's claims insisting whistler Aitken make the right calls.

He said: “The ref got the key decisions right. We’ve seen the tackle and it’s a stonewall red card.

“It’s not malicious but the boy has gone over the top of the ball.

“For the penalty they thought they should have had, the player jumps into the challenge and looked for it

“I know Stephen will probably see things differently.

“It’s good to win again. The performances recently have been alright, it’s just the results we’ve been missing.”
