Robbie Neilson brushes off heated Scott Brown exchange after Hearts boss and Aberdeen skipper argue at full-time

Robbie Neilson has brushed off a full-time argument with Aberdeen skipper Scott Brown after his Hearts side were held to a draw by the Dons.

The two sides saw out a 1-1 draw in front of over 17,000 fans in Tynecastle for the first time in over 17 months and it was an emotional day with some meaty challenges flying around, with Brown occasionally on the receiving end.

Liam Boyce's penalty had the Jambos heading for the top of the table.

But Funso Ojo grabbed an equaliser 19 minutes from time to deny the Jambos top spot, although both sides remain unbeaten after three league games on seven points along with Hibs to make up the top three.

And the climax of all that emotion was a heated discussion between Neilson and Brown at full-time as the former Celtic skipper seemed to enjoy being the pantomime villain at Tynecastle once more.

Speaking to BBC Sportsound, however, Neilson insists the incident stays on the pitch.

He said: "It was just one of those, both teams, both sets of players, managers like myself, we just want to win.

"There's always going to be heated exchanges at the end but from my perspective it's done and dusted.

"We move on to Dundee United next week.

"I always think as a player and a manager these things stay on the pitch. It's done and dusted."

Despite losing out on a chance to ascend to the league summit, Neilson was delighted with his team's effort.

He added: "I thought with fans coming back here after 18 months, it was a great spectacle.

"First half we were exceptional, I thought we played really well against a strong Aberdeen team.

"Second half I thought Aberdeen were the better team, we found it hard to implement the things we were doing in the first half.

"That's something we'll learn from. To go 1-0 up then lose a goal, there's a bit of disappointment.

"But when you look at the league table after the start we've had, which has been on paper very hard with Celtic here, St Mirren away and Aberdeen here, to be sitting on top of the league is fantastic for the players."
