Robbie Henshaw a major injury doubt for Ireland for World Cup with hamstring issue

Leinster's Robbie Henshaw's World Cup could be over before it has began.

The 26-year-old has a hamstring issue that could rule him out of the finals opener against Scotland in Yokohama on Saturday next - and even for the tournament.

Athlone native Henshaw was outstanding in his first outing of this season, in last Saturday's victory over Wales before Ireland flew to Japan on Wednesday.

Ulster's Will Addison was withdrawn at the last minute from the starting line up from Ulster's friendly against Glasgow earlier today, which suggests he could be Far East bound.

Henshaw has had horrible luck with injury having previously suffered knee, pectoral muscle, shoulder and concussion problems.

More recently, he missed three of the four World Cup warm up games and made an impressive return in the final send off at the Aviva Stadium last weekend.

The centre also missed the first two games of the last World Cup, also with a hamstring problem.
