Robbie Brady insists there's much more to come from this Ireland team after the massive disappointment of an opening loss under new boss Stephen Kenny.
Restored to the starting line-up after providing the assist for the equalising goal in Sofia, the Burnley midfielder put in a real shift in midfield but overall was unhappy that what was working on the training ground failed to translate to the Aviva Stadium pitch.
“It’s very disappointing," admitted Brady. "We didn’t think we played as well as we could.
"Although it is all fresh to us, it’s disappointing. We came away with the result the other night. We wanted to come here tonight and get a win - for ourselves, those watching and the new management.
"We wanted to set off on the right foot - we didn’t manage to do that. We've got a quick turnaround before we regroup and come again, I’m sure there is more to come from us.
"We had a few chances. We nicked it high, which is part of our game plan. We didn’t manage to punish them."
Brady admits the focus is on a big improvement ahead of the Euro finals play-off semi-final against Slovakia on October 8.
"But there's a lot more to come, there's a lot of confidence coming out of the camp during the week," he stated.
"We’re just disappointed we didn’t get the job done for everyone involved.
"It’s still a sort of pre-season feel to it. Everyone needs a couple of games before we get up to top speed, but there's no excuses.
"We wanted to put our mark on it in these two games, we didn’t manage to do it.
"The more work we get in with the manager and coaching staff will only push us forward.
"So we’ve had a great week, minus the games which is the main part. We’ll have some fixing to do and things to tighten up before the next games".
