Robbie Brady an injury doubt for Ireland ahead of Euro 2020 playoff with Slovakia

Robbie Brady has emerged as an injury concern for Ireland ahead of the Euro 2020 playoff against Slovakia.

The midfielder shipped a rib injury in Ireland’s recent defeat to Finland but aggravated it in Burnley’s 4-2 Premier League defeat to Leicester last night.

Ireland face Slovakia in Bratislava on October 8 so Brady has a two-week window to prove his fitness.

Brady has had a nightmare run of injuries and Burnley boss Sean Dyche said he whipped the midfielder off to protect him.

"With Robbie, we think it's bruised ribs and they can be sore," said Dyche after last night’s game.

"He’s been carrying it since being away with the national side, and unfortunately got a bang on it again tonight, so we made that decision early.

"It's a shame for him because he’s had a tough one with injuries, so we’ll see how that settles down, but it’s another challenge."
