Robbers with knives strike at store a second time in less than two months

A convenience store in Hucknall Road has been targeted twice in less than two months by knife-wielding robbers.

The first incident happened on Sunday, November 24, when two people entered the store with their faces covered and carried out the robbery at the Go-Local Carrington Stores .

Four bottles of alcohol - including vodka and Glenfiddich whisky - were taken as well as up to 80 packets of cigarettes.

The store said the total cost was in the region of £2,000.

A woman working in the shop had a knife held to her neck during the terrifying ordeal, and was left "shaken" and did not want to return to work.

The latest incident happened on Tuesday, January 14.

Police said two men with their faces covered went into the shop, with one brandishing a knife.

Staff behind the counter managed to escape into the back, and the two men fled the scene.

No one was injured and nothing was taken in the incident.

It is not known what they were trying to steal, and if the two incidents are linked.

The owner of the store did not wish to comment about the recent incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 846 of 14 January 2020.
