Robbers break into Sainsbury's and raid cash machine

Thugs made off with money from a cash machine after raiding Sainsbury's in the early hours of the morning.

Police said at around 2am on Saturday, April 30, men in a dark grey car broke into the supermarket on Church Street , Warrington. Once inside the pair robbed an ATM machine, stealing cash.

They left the scene shortly before 3am. Detectives are now appealing for witnesses following the robbery.

Officers said that despite the incident happening at 2am, the dark grey car had been parked near the front of the Sainsbury's Store since around midnight.

Anyone who may have spotted the car is being urged to contact police. Detective Constable David Gerrard of Warrington CID, said: "Enquiries in relation to this incident are in the early stages and we are committed to doing all that we can to trace the people responsible. As part of our investigation we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious in the area.

"The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage which may aid the investigation. I’d urge anyone with any information – no matter how small – to get in touch.
