A QUEENSLANDER who allegedly stabbed a man during a carjacking, held up a pharmacy and then carjacked a woman with two young children in her car during a terrifying crime spree at Hamilton on Wednesday night has been refused bail.
Shaun Sinfield, 39, appeared in Newcastle Local Court on Thursday charged with two counts of armed robbery, aggravated robbery with wounding and police pursuit after he alleged wreaked havoc in Beaumont Street, threatening and attacking a number of people with a scalpel.
He did not enter any pleas or apply for bail and the matter was adjourned until February. According to police, a man, 26, was sitting in his car in Beaumont Street about 5.50pm when Mr Sinfield opened the driver's door and demanded he get out.
Mr Sinfield then allegedly dragged the man out of the car and the pair struggled before Mr Sinfield allegedly stabbed him in the chest with a scalpel.
A short time later, Mr Sinfield allegedly walked into a nearby chemist and demanded cash. He then approached the intersection of Tudor Street where he opened the passenger side door of a Ford Kuga stopped at a red light and allegedly threatened the driver, a 33-year-old woman, with the scalpel. The woman, who had two young children in the backseat, pulled over and pulled the children out when Mr Sinfield allegedly attempted to undo one of the child's restraints.
Police were called, searched the area and spotted the Ford Kuga in Cooks Hill. After an alleged police pursuit, Mr Sinfield was arrested in Merewether.
