Robber threatens staff with meat cleaver in raid at Bank of Scotland branch in Dunfermline

A bank robber made off with a four-figure sum in Dunfermline after wielding a meat cleaver during the hold up.

The incident happened at the Bank of Scotland branch in Bothwell Street just after 9am on Monday morning.

The raider threatened staff with the weapon and demanded money before exiting the premises with a four-figure sum.

Nobody was injured during the robbery.

Police investigating the raid later confirmed that an arrest has been made in connection with the incident.

A statement from Police Scotland said: "Around 9.05am on Monday, September 23, a man entered the Bank of Scotland in Bothwell Street, Dunfermline.

"He then threatened the staff with a meat cleaver and demanded money before leaving the premises with a four-figure sum of cash.

"No-one was physically injured during the robbery.

"A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, enquiries are continuing and there is no further risk at this time to the public."
