Robber stole 63-year-old woman's bank card and used it to buy a takeaway

A man who robbed a 63-year-old woman and used her bank cards to buy a takeaway has been jailed.

Shaun Hill was jailed for three years after the report of a "terrifying" robbery was made to Nottinghamshire Police on December 28, 2019.

Police were called to Bancroft Lane, Mansfield, after a report of a woman being assaulted by a man believed to be in his 20s.

Hill, 28, of Broxtowe Drive, Mansfield, pleaded guilty to the robbery at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, February 3 and was sentenced to three years behind bars on the same day.

He also pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation after he used the victim’s bank cards at a fish and chip shop and for "minor" purchases at other shops.

Detective Constable Adam Penn, said: “Nottinghamshire Police takes all reports of robbery and fraud incredibly seriously.

“This was a terrifying experience for the victim who, as well as having her bank cards stolen, was also assaulted and had other personal belongings taken.

“I am pleased that there was a swift outcome.”
