Chicago police are warning Chatham residents about a series of strong-arm robberies that have occurred this summer in the South Side neighborhood.
In each incident, a man in his late teens or early 20s creeps up on someone and snatches their cellphone from their hands, sometimes using force, Chicago police said.
The robberies happened between July 31 and Sept. 8 in the morning and afternoon hours, police said. Some of the victims were waiting for the No. 87 87th Street bus when they were robbed.
Four of the six robberies happened in the first block of West 87th Street, Chicago police said. The other two happened in the first block of East 89th Street and the 8700 block of South King Drive.
Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call Area South detectives at 312-848-8273.
