Robber knocks over mini mart staff in 'frightening' robbery

A robber knocked over a member of staff in a mini mart during a 'frightening' robbery.

Merseyside Police rushed to the mini mart on Warwick Street in Toxteth at around 9am on Monday, February 28, following reports of a robbery.

Officers were told a man and woman entered the store and asked for some items they claimed to have paid for earlier that day.

The woman then pushed open the door behind the counter, knocking over a staff member and took a packet of cigarettes from the store cabinet.

The pair then left the store, leaving the staff member uninjured but seriously distressed.

Since the robbery officers have carried out extensive CCTV and witness enquiries and detectives have now issued a CCTV image of a woman they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “This was a frightening incident for the staff and customers in the store at the time.

“No one should be left to feel scared and unsafe in their own community and we are working hard to find anyone responsible and bring them to justice.

“If you recognise the woman pictured then please let us know, as we believe she may hold information vital to our ongoing investigation.

“We would also appeal to anyone who was near the mini mart on Warwick Street on Monday 28 February at 9am who saw anyone or anything suspicious to contact us as they may have information which is vital to our investigation.

“If you witnessed the incident or have any CCTV footage or further information please get in touch.”

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook with reference 22000143251.
