Robber flees with bottle of cleaning fluid after Farmfoods staff threatened at knifepoint

A robber fled with just a single bottle of cleaning fluid after threatening staff at a Liverpool branch of Farmfoods.

The robber carried out the terrifying raid at Farmfoods on Walton Lane yesterday.

After walking into the supermarket at 6.30pm the man started bundling stock into a bag.

When confronted by staff he brandished a knife, police confirmed.

Undeterred, brave staff members tackled the man and retrieved the bag.

A spokesman said: "The man then grabbed a bottle of cleaning fluid and fled the shop in the direction of Rice Lane."

Police have now launched a witness appeal as they hunt for the knifeman.

The man is described as a white male, in his 30s, with thick blond hair. He was wearing a T-shirt, black pants and a blue cap.

CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area and an investigation is underway.
