A man convicted of robbery who was given £7,000 in compensation for injuries he suffered in prison is back behind bars after blowing the cash on drugs.
Mark Russell received the pay-out after being hurt while serving a six-year term for robbery.
The 36-year-old, who has gold teeth, was freed two years ago but was arrested after police caught him dealing drugs.
Officers swooped on a house in Derby on March 18 this year and found heroin, cocaine and cash belonging to Russell.
A further raid at another property where Russell said he lived yielded more drugs and money.
On Wednesday he was jailed for four years and eight months after admitting possession with intent to supply at Derby Crown Court.
Career criminal Russell has 19 previous convictions for 37 offences dating between 1999 to 2019, including robbery.
The court heard when he was released from prison, he was awarded £7,000 compensation and got a job as a council binman.
His defence solicitor said he was forced to give the job up after be broke his hand and started taking Mamba and began drug dealing.
PC Shazia Anwar of Derbyshire Police said: “This is a great result for the Littleover community.
“Russell was selling drugs that cause serious issues in our area and that he is now behind bars is hugely positive.
“As a local policing team, we rely on information from our communities and I would urge anyone with any intelligence about drug dealing to contact us, in confidence, at any time.”
