Robber attempts to steal woman's phone - but soon realises he's made big mistake

A woman was walking to a gym one morning when she found herself in a scary situation.

Claire Quinn, who lives in Chicago, claims she was on her way to workout when she was approached by a young man and then hit over the head from behind by an older man.

The alleged attacker is said to have demanded she hand over her phone to him, but little did he know, he'd made a big mistake.

That's because Quinn is a Golden Glove boxer and she wasn't prepared to go down without a fight.

Little did the assailant know, Claire is a boxer (ABC7 Chicago)

Speaking to Block Club Chicago, the 26-year-old explained how she reacted in the moment.

"I just kept throwing my right hand to his balls," she confessed. "There's no way to sugar coat that or put it nicely."

She continues: "If I'm gonna be defined, it's going to be as the girl who punched the guy in the d***. It's not gonna be, 'Oh, she was a wimp. She was a victim of crime.'

"If anything, I'll let is define me as something powerful to make other women feel powerful. To help them find confidence to not let guys f*** with them."

She's been boxing since 2015 (ABC7 Chicago)

Unsurprisingly her tactic worked and the assailant ended up running away, but not before leaving Quinn with a mild concussion and some bruising.

Despite her injuries, she feels like she "won" as she still has both her phone and her credit card.

Quinn first began boxing in 2015 and has a 6-0 record for this year.

She's used to causing damage in the ring, so was prepared to defend herself on the streets and her attacker didn't stand a chance.

"My right hand knocks girls out," she explained. "My last four or five fights have been TKOs. It can do some damage."
