Man charged after taxi driver robbed at knifepoint

A Ravenswood man has been charged with armed robbery after a taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint in Launceston.

Police said the incident occurred about 4:20pm on Thursday when a passenger allegedly threatened the driver in Dover Street, before fleeing with cash.

Police said a 27-year-old man was arrested on Friday afternoon.

He was charged with one count of armed robbery.

He will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court in January.
