Rob Ryan promises his LBs will be ‘fun to watch’

Rob Ryan was one of the bigger moves made by the Washington Redskins this offseason.

Ryan arrives as the coach of the inside linebackers and gets to work alongside some serious defensive heavyweights such as Jim Tomsula and Ray Horton.

For Ryan, his group of linebackers will follow a certain philosophy, according to Ryan Fowler of Redskins.com:

“In the running game, you know, especially coaching inside linebackers, we have to come down and create a new line of scrimmage and that’s going backwards. You know my philosophy is coming downhill, strike, dent some helmets, and get to the football.”

He had a bit of a promise for the fans, too: “I know our guys are going to come downhill fast and we’re going to be fun to watch.”

Ryan and the staff will have some decisions to make on the interior with guys like Zach Brown. But he also has access to some interesting up-and-coming talent like Shaun Dion Hamilton to balance the scales.

If nothing else, the entertaining Ryan will provide a fun factor to an already-solid defense.
