Leeds United's pre-season injury list

Leeds United's head of performance and medicine Rob Price has given an injury update after Marcelo Bielsa's squad returned to Thorp Arch for pre-season training.

Injuries beset the Whites campaign last season, with Bielsa not once being able to call upon a full strength squad all year.

While the summer break has presented players with a time to rest and recuperate following last season's gruelling Championship endeavours, a number of squad members were forced to continue their recovery from injury, after ending the year on the treatment table.

"We've seen quite a few of the players already over the summer," Price told LUTV.

"There's quite a few who had niggling injuries at the end of last season who have been continuing programmes and have actually been doing rehab.

"Barry [Douglas], for instance, has only had a few days off all summer where he's been continuing his rehab from his knee injury.

"This morning we've just done a quick check on everyone just to make sure they've not picked up anything when they've been away and just ensure they're in reasonable condition to start the work."

Douglas ruptured his knee ligaments at the beginning of April, which ruled him out for the rest of the season, while Adam Forshaw was injured in the play-off semi-final first leg at Derby.

Ezgjan Alioski suffered a season-ending torn meniscus on Easter Monday at Brentford, while Leif Davis underwent knee surgery before the penultimate game of the regular season against Aston Villa, while Tyler Roberts also missed the run-in.

"All the ones who were injured at the end of the season have made decent progress over the summer," Price said.

"Barry has been training with the team there this morning, Adam's back training fully after the injury that he had. You saw Alioski played for Macedonia in the summer.

"Leif Davis had some knee surgery, he's been fully fit over the summer and we're just catching up with a couple of other ones that we had from the end of the season who had some ongoing issues that we just need to keep on top of."

Leeds will be hoping for much better injury luck this season as they look to go at least one better than their third-place finish in their second season under Bielsa.
