Rob Pelinka thanks Lonzo Ball in Anthony Davis introductory presser

The Los Angeles Lakers introduced newly-acquired forward Anthony Davis on Saturday afternoon to a host of media. Prior to the actual press conference taking place, though, Laker general manager Rob Pelinka offered thanks to a handful of people, most of those including fellow front office figures within the franchise.

However, the last people he thanked, though, were the three young players the Lakers shipped to New Orleans for Davis in Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart.

“I want to thank Lonzo Ball, and Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart. Any time in this business that you make a trade for an extraordinary value, you have to give up extraordinary value and that’s how we feel about those three players and we certainly wish them all the best of luck.”

In one regard, it’s an unfortunate ending to the rebuild. Laker fans were heavily invested in the young players and were hoping to see them improve, develop before flourishing in the purple and gold.

Any hurt, though, is pretty easily alleviated by the arrival Davis. It’s still a bittersweet ending to the Lakers careers of the young core.
