Rob Newman was appointed last week as West Ham's new Head of Recruitment and the former Manchester City man has got straight to work at the Hammers.
Newman, 57, started his new role with the Hammers after completing a period of gardening leave following his role as an international scout and recruitment manager at Manchester City.
The new recruitment chief has now begun work following his appointment and was spotted in the London Stadium on Sunday to witness West Ham's late 2-1 loss to Brentford.
Newman has been appointed to help take the pressure off David Moyes when it comes to transfers and the new recruitment chief is keen to continue the fine recent work in the market.
West Ham co-chairman David Gold took to social media to welcome Newman to the club and the Head of Recruitment was grateful for the message and expressed his desire to build on the Hammers recent success.
"Thank you David," he said. "I am looking forward to working with everyone at the club to help with the excellent work that has already been done."
Gold was not the only one at West Ham to be delighted with Newman's appointment. The manager took questions on Newman in his most recent press conference and was positive about having his former teammate from his Bristol City days alongside him at the club.
"I'm pleased that we've got something to help our recruitment department," Moyes said. "It's been quite sparse over the years and we're happy to get Rob in."
Moyes added: "Manchester City have done very well over the years and hopefully Rob can bring us some information from that and we're looking forward to getting him settled in building a good recruitment department over the years."
The manager did however suggest it would take time for Newman's impact to be felt: "We can't expect this to suddenly be something different. You would say the recruitment has done very well without a head of recruitment in the last period. We're bringing him in so that we have a better idea, we want to make sure that we have got good coordination.
"I can only look back at the years I had at Everton when I thought I had a really good recruitment team. But that took time as well, it didn't happen over one or two windows and I've got to give Rob time.
"It is a step up for Rob, he's been a scout and a good scout for Manchester City so now we have to give him the chance to run a department, get to know the agents and the people he should get to know and have a good relationship with me and David Sullivan."
