Rob McElhenney shows class with off-camera gesture before Wrexham game

American TV star and Wrexham AFC co-owner Rob McElhenney continues to show himself in fantastic light as the northern Welsh club's chairman after spending time with a host of fans prior to their 3-1 win over Halifax Town.

The co-owner has seemingly been spending more time in Wrexham this season, being seen at a handful of games after making regular trips from his home in Philadelphia.

Before the game against Halifax on October 24, McElhenney took pictures with a host of fans, even after the Disney+ camera crews had made their way up the stairs, leaving him behind. The much-loved co-owner also spent time speaking to an elderly gentleman before returning to his seat to prepare for the upcoming game.

It was just the second time that McElhenney has seen Wrexham win in person after having a dismal record of doing so in the previous season, which was documented on Disney Plus show Welcome to Wrexham.

Last season, co-owner Ryan Reynolds was there to see Wrexham dramatically defeat Stockport County via two late goals from Paul Mullin, but McElhenney had yet to see them win - watching five matches with four defeats against Maidenhead, Bromley, Grimsby Town and Chesterfield, as well as a 1-1 draw with Torquay United in their first ever home game.

During his recent trip to Wrexham, McElhenney also spent time with fans at the local pub after a 1-1 away draw with Boreham Wood.

The 45-year-old spent a number of hours drinking and speaking with fans on the season, as he stayed to see local band 'The Declan Swans' perform - including a track inspired by their purchase of the club.

The lyrics to the track say: "Less than a mile from the centre of town, a famous old stadium was crumbling down. No one invested so much as a penny, so bring on the Deadpool and Rob McElhenney."

McElhenney had been at the pub with his friends and was seen wiping a tear from his eye as the band tribute their song to the new owners.

Last night, Wrexham beat Scunthorpe United 3-1 to jump above Notts County to go to the top of the table. This season is also being documented by Disney+, and will be shown at the end of the campaign.
