Rob McElhenney loved how Joel Embiid’s brawl followed the advice of ‘It’s Always Sunny’

Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns set the NBA world on fire Wednesday night with a vicious brawl that continued to play out on social media.

The brawl really had everything you’d ever want from an NBA fight between two extremely large humans. There were punches, a chokehold, post-fight shadow boxing and a very angry mother.

But we’d be remiss to overlook the thumb that Embiid pushed into Towns’ eye as the Sixers big man got himself out of a headlock. It was decidedly Philadelphia. So much so that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Rob McElhenney recognized a hilarious connection between Embiid’s brawl and the FXX show. (Warning: NSFW language ahead)
