Rob Kearney confirms Barbarians outing with Samoa on Saturday will be his 'last game of rugby'

Ireland legend Rob Kearney has confirmed that his appearance for the Barbarians against Samoa on Saturday will be his 'last game of rugby.'

The former Leinster stalwart will line out with the famous invitational side at the home of English rugby, Twickenham, before hanging up his mouthguard for the final time.

35-year-old Kearney opted to hang up his boots during the summer after a year with Australian outfit Western Force and will line out for the final time on Saturday.

Kearney tweeted: "It’s always been a dream to play for the @Barbarian_FC and what a historic team to play your last game of rugby with, grateful for the opportunity!"

The Dundalk native made 95 appearances for Ireland, mostly at full back, scoring 82 points. He also lined out more than 200 times for his province domestically.

Kearney, whose younger brother Dave also plays for Leinster, won four Six Nations titles with Ireland, including gram slams in 2009 and 2018, and played in three World Cups.

He was twice a tourist with the British Lions and played all three tests in the unsuccessful 2009 tour of South Africa.
