Rob Kearney agrees new one year deal to remain at Leinster

Rob Kearney is putting pen to paper on a one year deal to remain with Leinster Rugby.

Kearney, 33, is out of contract after the World Cup and there were concerns that he would move on after 14 years of playing with the province.

But speaking at today's National Dairy Council’s ‘Everything Starts With Milk’ campaign, the Ireland full-back confirmed that a deal had been struck.

The Ireland full-back's manager claimed last week that the IRFU's stance was way off what Kearney was looking for in terms of a new contract.

But that suggestion was rebuffed a day later by IRFU performance director David Nucifora, who asserted that the two parties were "very close" to an agreement.

Leinster head coach Leo Cullen then expressed confidence on the eve of the PRO14 final triumph that Kearney, who has played 209 times for the Blues, would be staying.

And, after the game, Kearney told TG4 that he was hopeful that would be the case.
