Arsenal had two chances to qualify for the Champions League last season, but missed out on both fronts.
The Gunners had a glorious opportunity to claim a place in the top four, but blew it when they lost four of their last seven games, ultimately finishing a point behind arch rivals Tottenham.
They could have also qualified for Europe's top tier competition by winning the Europa League, but lost in the final to London rivals Chelsea.
That meant for another season in the Europa League and they have started this campaign strongly, with two wins from their opening two group games.
The Gunners face Portuguese side Vitoria at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night, knowing that a win would all-but book their place in the knockout stages of the competition.
The Premier League campaign was going reasonably well until Arsenal lost 1-0 at Sheffield United on Monday night, leaving them fifth in the table.
And returning defender Rob Holding has made a big claim about what is more important to him this season.
Holding was joining head coach Unai Emery for the usual pre-match press conference and was asked about the Europa League and how important it was.
He went as far as saying that it was his biggest priority this season.
He said: "Top four is more than within our capability. I want to win the Europa League first and foremost.
"We got to the final last year but I was injured and I didn’t get to play in it. Top four and a Europa League trophy would be a brilliant way to end it."
