Rob Holding makes admission about Arsenal's dramatic Vitoria victory that fans will agree with

Rob Holding has said Arsenal "got away with one" against Vitoria.

Much of the post-match reaction is likely to centre around club record signing Nicolas Pepe as he climbed off the bench to score two stunning free-kicks inside the final 10 minutes of the Europa League tie.

However, what's not lost on Holding is how fortunate the Gunners were to come away with all three points.

Not for the first time this season Arsenal's defending was called into question.

Even after trailing 2-1 at the break the visitors had numerous chances to extend their lead in the second half and if not for some wayward finishing could easily have walked away from the Emirates Stadium with at least a point.

And while Arsenal fans as well as Unai Emery are heaping praise on Pepe for his game-changing contribution, Holding isn't getting caught up in all the euphoria.

Taking to social media after the game, Holding gave his honest assessment of the performance and it's likely that the majority of Gunners supporters will agree with his admission.

"Got away with one there, we need to be better!," he wrote on Instagram.

"Thank you for the support, it got us there in the end."

Holding's teammate Hector Bellerin - who captained the side against Vitoria - admitted the 3-2 scoreline flattered the north London outfit.

"To be fair, the result wasn't fair [to Vitoria] considering how the game went but sometimes, games turn out other ways," he told BT Sport. "They were organised, they showed they could create chances.

"When the whole team plays together we create goals, but sometimes it's individuals who score.

"That's what happened today.

Arsenal v Vitoria: Rob Holding press conference

"I think there's a lot of things we need to improve, different things we've got to do in different games when you play other teams.

"Sometimes we've got to make mistakes to learn from but we're not going to stop playing that way, it's in our DNA.

"I think playing in the same way in the first half, we found the holes in the second and that's how it works. You have to keep pushing and doing what you believe in."
