Rob Holding Arsenal boost as Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney prepare for training return

Rob Holding is pushing to be involved in Arsenal’s squad to face Watford on Sunday after returning to full training.

The 23-year-old has been out of action since December of last year after suffering a serious knee injury against Manchester United.

Holding has been working hard to regain full fitness and has already appeared for Arsenal’s Under-23 side.

The centre-back has now taken a further step in his recovery by rejoining first-team training for the first time this week.

Holding will be hoping he can perhaps make the squad for Arsenal’s trip to Vicarage Road on Sunday but, naturally, the club are being careful about rushing him back into action.

Nonetheless, the defender’s return to full training is a boost for head coach Unai Emery as he looks to build on a start of seven points from four Premier League games.

As well as Holding, Arsenal will soon hope to welcome back Hector Bellerin (knee) and Kieran Tierney (groin) to full training.

Both players are progressing well in their bids to get back to full fitness and it is hoped they will return to full training this month alongside centre-back Dinos Mavropanos, who has been out with a groin issue.
