Rob Gronkowski shares honest opinion about the 2019 Patriots

It’s been just over a full year since Rob Gronkowski walked away from the NFL. Since then, he’s had his schedule jam-packed with opportunities in every aspect of entertainment. He joined Fox Sports as an NFL analyst, appeared on “The Masked Singer,” and currently holds the WWE 24/7 championship. It’s been a busy retirement for the tight end.

Through it all, Gronkowski hasn’t been able to escape the questions about returning to football. In a segment on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live,” Gronkowski was asked about the rumors that he may unretire and force a trade to join his former quarterback, Tom Brady, down in Tampa Bay.

“The day that I retired, within 24 hours there was already rumors that I was coming out of retirement,” Gronkowski said. “I’m feeling good right now, I’m happy where I’m at, and you just never know, man. You just never know. You never know. I’m not totally done, I like to stay in shape, but I’ve got to get that feeling back.”

The 30-year-old former tight end was also asked to share his thoughts on the 2019 Patriots and how they performed without him on the team.

“I am a weapon I feel like,” he said. “I feel like I can stretch the field pretty good and help open up the underneath receivers. Overall, I think going to the playoffs is a sound season, but of course, when you are a New England Patriots fan you want to go all the way every single year, so just making the playoffs isn’t enough.”

It was evident that Gronkowski’s absence was felt in the Patriots’ offense. The unit was one of the worst in the league last season, and that contributed to a finish that was considered disappointing by New England fans.
