Rob Burrow’s father dies as Leeds Rhinos pay tribute to ‘tireless’ MND campaigner

  • Geoff Burrow, the father of Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow, has passed away.
  • Leeds confirmed the news on Monday morning, stating that Geoff had died “after a period of ill health”.
  • The rugby league club paid tribute to Geoff, who was born in Leeds, hailing him for being a “tireless campaigner for the MND community”.
  • Rob Burrow was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in December 2019, and died at the age of 41 in June 2024.
  • Rob was involved in a number of fund-raising events before his passing, while Geoff continued to work with the MND community after Rob’s death and was present when a state-of-the-art MND centre opened at Seacroft Hospital in Leeds last year.
