Cardiff is covered in a thin layer of snow this morning – following an icy freeze overnight.
The Met Office said more snow is unlikely but low temperatures (1C today) will be exacerbated by a cold north-easterly wind making it feel like sub zero weather.

Cardiff council has confirmed Herbert Thompson primary school in Ely will open to a limited number of pupils today after a water leak over the weekend. The Tiny Thompson nursery, the school nursery and reception class and year 1 will be able to attend the school today.

The Met Office forecast shows temperatures are expected to drop below freezing again tonight – and remain -1C into tomorrow. See here for more details.
A severe weather warning has been issued for Wales – particularly in the Powys and some areas of north Wales.

South Wales Police said they had no snow-related incidents reported apart from four youths seen throwing snowballs at vehicles this morning on Newport Road, Rumney.
Update 10:12 Cardiff council has said some waste collections in the city couldn't go ahead yesterday because of the poor road conditions. They have advised residents to leave their bin bags out. More here.
