Liverpool city centre roads closed as Reds fans gather to watch historic Champions League final

Several city centre roads have been closed off as thousands of Reds fans prepare to watch tonight's Champions League final.

Huge crowds have already gathered in locations like Concert Square ahead of Liverpool's tie with Tottenham Hotspur.

Concert Square has been a sea of red for several hours already, with footage from the party hotspot showing fans bursting into Anfield anthem You'll Never Walk Alone and Allez, Allez, Allez.

As supporters continue to pour into the city centre for tonight's historic match, Merseyside Police has taken the decision to close off several roads to traffic.

The force's official Twitter account posted: "We know you'll be wanting to paint the town red tonight, but we need to make sure you're safe.

"Due to exceptional crowds we have closed roads at Hanover St, Bold St and Concert Sq. If you're heading in to town try and avoid these areas."
